The Chesapeake Bay has more shoreline than the entire western United States. Waterfront is serene and wild, home to the osprey eagle, blue crabs, oysters, and great heron.
HISTORY
STEWARDS
The property was separated in 1667 from family lands and sits nearby the town of St. Michaels, where generations have worked the water and the land of the Eastern Shore.

The home integrates modern comforts with historic character and is fully updated with contemporary amenities: zoned air-conditioning, ‘endless’ hot water, walk-in showers, chef kitchen for entertaining (two dishwashers, induction cooktop, ice-maker, wet-bar), full laundry. patio with charcoal and gas grills, and low-chlorine pool.
WATERFRONT
Idlewild’s shoreline is ideal for boating, swimming and crabbing. The long dock and platform launch are ideal for paddle-boards, kayaks and small sailboats.
Powered watercraft put in at the nearby public ramp (10 min drive). Sailors enjoy shore power, fresh water, and 4’ MLW.
OUTDOOR SPACES
The grounds have several mown lawns for activities. Wild spaces include the fifteen acre wood and waterside reed beds.
The property is secluded on all sides by woods, fields, and water.
BEDROOMS
Up to seven bedrooms to sleep 10 persons, includes separate sleeping rooms for youth. Three bedrooms with en suite baths (King, Queen, Queen), two bedrooms with shared bath (Queen & Queen), and two youth bedrooms with shared bath (2x Twins & 2x Twins). All beds and bedding are current.

BATHS
Five full bathrooms plus a powder room. All baths are contemporary with good pressure and ‘endless’ hot water. Some baths have restored vintage fixtures. Master bath has soaking tub plus walk-in shower. Three bedrooms with en suite baths, two bedrooms with shared bath, and two youth bedrooms with shared bath.

SWIMMING POOL
Generous swimming area, classic shape. Modern minimum-chlorine salt stabilized water for comfort. Decking is lower-temperature natural wood. Waterfront views.
The pool is positioned toward the waterfront, convenient to the house, greenways, and dock.
SPORT & SPA
Idlewild’s reclaimed barn loft is a gathering space with ping-pong, darts, and bluetooth music, with an elevated outdoor deck to sit under the stars.
Local world-class hotel, The Inn at Perry Cabin, offers spa treatments, tennis, yacht charters and dining.
Also available for local rental are paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats, power boats, and guides for fishing or charters.
FOOD & DINING
The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries are abundant with sea food and wild fare. Local oysters and crabs harvested fresh daily can be purchased down the road or gathered from the shoreline. Idlewild’s kitchen, grills, and dining room are fully appointed.
St. Michaels town (10 min drive) offers several excellent dining options, plus a brewery, winery, and distillery. Local catering and in-home chefs are available.
FLORA & FAUNA
These grounds provide a special view into the diversity of The Chesapeake design. The living shoreline and buffered waterways attract birds in all seasons. The shore birds, song birds and significant birds all interact with Idlewild’s water and woods, where owls, wild turkey, fox, bobcat, and the deer abide.
